Google Calendar Will Let You Show Where You Are Working

Google Calendar users will be able to indicate, directly from their calendars, where they plan to work each week. This feature will be rolled out starting August 30 for users on certain Google Workspace plans.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work has been increasing and becoming permanent. In this context, Google Calendar announced that it has launched a new feature. Accordingly, users will now be able to indicate, directly from their calendars, where they plan to work each week. This feature will allow you to add a work location routine for a specific week and let your colleagues know where you are working when they invite you to an event.

This feature will be rolled out starting August 30 for users on certain Google Workspace plans. The feature will be accessible from the existing working hours options as well as from the "settings" menu and weekly calendar view of Calendar. Available work locations include options such as "Office," "Home," "Unspecified" or "Somewhere Else." When the work locations feature begins rolling out in Google Calendar, it will initially be off by default. Users will be able to enable this feature from their calendar settings.

Google explained in its blog post that it added the feature of showing where you are working in Google Calendar to make it easier for teams to plan in-person collaboration. However, this feature can also be used to set expectations in a hybrid workplace.

This feature will be active for Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Nonprofits and G Suite Business users; however, it will not be available to G Suite Basic customers, as well as customers on the Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Enterprise Essentials and Education Fundamentals plans.
